Fall is upon us. The air is much cooler and the leaves have changed their colors. This season presents us with a perfect opportunity to play around with fall hair colors and new hairstyles. Given that there are endless possibilities for hairstyles that we can choose from, Black women can experiment with various hairstyles and fall hair colors including Honey Blonde, Rich Burgundy, Chocolate Brown, and arburn. Ideally, the goal is to have a hairstyle that complements the natural environmental tones and shades.
Fall Hair Colors
Ginger
Ginger is one of the most significant and sought-after autumn hair colours. This colour has a reddish-brown tone that adds richness and warmth, especially for darker skin tones. It gives off a bold yet natural look. This hair colour blends perfectly in the autumn season.
Honey Blonde
Honey blonde is probably one of my favourite colours to rock during the fall season. Honey blonde is particularly beautiful on curly hairstyles such as goddess braids and island twist braids. The golden blonde shade offers a seamless blend with black or brown hair. It is a reflection of natural warmth especially during the cooler fall season.
Rich Burgundy
Rich Burgundy is a luxurious and deep shade perfect for the autumn season. Rich Burgundy is a reddish purple colour that complements African American skin tones. If you do not want to go too bold with hair then Burgundy is the perfect shade.
Chocolate Brown
Chocolate brown is a subtle yet stunning colour to rock during the autumn season. It particularly flatters individuals with darker skin tones especially if paired with caramel highlights.
Fall Hairtyles for Black women
Fall is probably the perfect time to play around with protective styles. Protective styles are especially crucial for protecting an individual’s natural hair from environmental factors. Given that it is a cooler season, it makes it ideal for growing out your natural hair under protective hairstyles. Braided styles are perfect for transitioning into the autumn season. You can rock various braided styles including goddess braids, knotless braids, fulani braids, and lemonade braids.
Faux Locs
In my opinion, Faux locs are the most ideal for the fall and winter season compared to the summer season. This is because faux locs tend to be heavier and thus less ideal for the summer season which is very hot. Therefore, you can choose to try faux locs for this fall season. Experiment with bright shades of ginger and deep burgundy. I would highly recommend trying out Goddess faux locs as they add a touch of bohemian.
Hair Care Tips
Due to the drop in humidity during the autumn season, natural hair can be prone to dryness. Therefore, protective styling and moisturizing is very important. Here are some few tips that can help you in taking care of your hair.
1. Seal your natural hair in moisture by using lightweight oils such as almond oil, jojoba, and coconut oil.
2. If you have thicker 4c hair, then you can consider using shea butter and castor oils as they tend to be thicker and can provide greater protection to the hair.
3. During the fall season, opt for doing protective styles such as braids and faux locs that will protect your hair from environmental damage and also protect it from daily manipulation. By doing so, you can retain its length.
4. Before retiring to bed, always wear a satin or silk bonnet to protect your hair.
Takeaways
In conclusion, fall is the perfect season to experiment with various protective styles and bold hair colors such as burgundy, ginger, and honey blonde. You can pair the colors with copper hues or other highlights to add an extra touch of glam. With the right care routine, you can always ensure that you keep your natural hair healthy and gorgeous. Therefore, go ahead and experiment with the various colors and hairstyles during this fall season.
